My submission for The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition 2021

 

It was my submission for the recent commonwealth essay competition. My subject was: It’s been 30 years since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, what does the world look like. 

Here is my essay:

Today is 3rd June 2052. It’s been almost 30 years since the Covid-19 pandemic ended. A lot of people around the world get vaccinated at the end of 2022. And then the pandemic comes under control. But before that, we had a great loss. Millions of people died around the world. Almost half of the world population got the covid-19 positive. Millions of people losses their job, their family, their home. In fact, today also the world economy suffers from this pandemic. Now it’s not mandatory for wearing a mask.  But those who were very small in that pandemic time, still wear a mask when they go out. I think it’s their childhood habit. People don’t have to do social distancing anymore. But people get confused when they see a crowd. They start to keep their distance from one another by own. The story of the pandemic is now in every school book. Those who were born letter or now who studying in primary school are very excited for hearing the story of the covid-19. Doctor, Nurse, Scientist are now the new superhero for them. The world is more beautiful right now if we compare it to 2020. Covid-19 gives us a lot of lessons. People are very serious about healthcare now. Every country has a great healthcare system right now. People understood that it’s necessary to spend a lot of money in the hospital and the healthcare system. There are lots of research institutes around the world. Scientists and the World Health Organization are always aware of new diseases and viruses. And the thing is people still get affected by Coronavirus, but we have medicine and it’s not serious as a normal cold. People are enjoying life like how it was before covid. There are live concerts happening with thousands of people, the football stadiums are full all the time. There is no travel ban anywhere. People are enjoying travel. Times Square is as busy as before, Eiffel Tower is now looking very beautiful with lot’s of people around it, London back to her own beauty, Airports are now looking normal. But we adapt something from the pandemic. Nowadays, the home office is quite popular. Every big office around the world now has an option for a home office. So, it’s now very easy for those who want to pursue their dream job in a big industry from another part of the world. Now they don’t have to move to a place anymore. It helps the companies also, they don’t need a huge space or office right now. There are some companies that don’t have an offline office, their whole company are working from home with the help of the internet. Online education is also very popular right now. The student has now the option of whether they want to continue their study from home or not. But, it’s basically for College student, though primary and high school student has to go to their school because it helps their social development. In the University or college, it’s now a popular thing. Anyone from around the world is now joining their favourite course at their favourite college without leaving their current place. Today also there are lots of online universities too. Those universities completely run on the internet and even they don’t have any permanent campuses also. But I am not a fan of this. I think a college campus teaches us a lot of things and it also helps us develop our relationships with other people or students. The thing is we are now fully recovered from the covid-19 pandemic but it’s not mean that we don’t have any problem right now. Climate change and global warming turn into a very huge problem. It’s now a new pandemic for us. There are lots of small islands that completely disappear into the sea because of the sea level. It’s increasing in a huge percentage day by day. The world is getting hotter every day. There are only a few countries that have a winter season now. People and scientist are trying their best and there are lots of eco-friendly industries also. But it’s not enough, it was necessary for us to do this type of thing thirty or forty years ago. It’s too late now. Anyway, people are more serious about their life now which is a great thing. The world also getting smaller because of the huge development of the internet. All the world have now 9G internet network, which keeps connected the people from around the world all the time. There is a huge change in the tech industry. People have now a huge amount of technology on their hands if we compare it with 2020. People now are doing hologram calls instead of video calls. Life is now easier than before. This pandemic changed us and our future. In every field, we can see the impact of this pandemic. People are more serious about their health, their life and this world. It’s obvious that we don’t want any pandemic again so we are more careful about everything. People are very careful about their food, the government also check those food items regularly. If any new virus is detected around the world, the government handle this matter very seriously. In the end, I love to say that, the world is looking more beautiful without any pandemic.

If anyone wondering about the result, it didn't win anything except for the Certificate of Participation. The reason is pretty obvious by the way; this is a very bad written essay.
